NABJ Multimedia Short Course
North Carolina A&T State University



The NABJ Student Multimedia Short Course is aimed at encouraging student members to pursue television management as a career. The project will give students access to mentors who currently work as news directors, producers, writers, assignment editors, directors and the like, at some of the top television stations in the country, as well as give them hands-on experience and a practical understanding of what these jobs entail.

The seminar will take place on the campus of North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina March 17-20, 2010. The seminar is open to student members who are juniors and seniors enrolled in an accredited college or university. Students must have a declared major in broadcast journalism or communication and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. 

Students who want to participate in this program will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the seminar as well as any and all expenses incurred during the seminar. Housing and meals will be provided to selected students who live more than 60 miles away from the campus. Selected students must be committed to participate for the entire program.

 COURSE SCHEDULE

 The seminar will run from Wednesday through Saturday.  The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday  6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. “Shooting and Editing 101”, Opening Reception
 Thursday   All-day Seminars and Workshops
 Friday   Assignments and Newsroom Operations
Saturday Taping of Newscast & Critique Session

 Application Deadline: 11:59 p.m. EST Friday, January 29, 2010

  • Transcript (Scan low resolution JPG)
  • Contact information for two references (Full name, address, phone, and email)
  • NABJ membership number
  • Web links to work samples (optional)

All uploads and attached documents submitted must be low resolution.
