NABJ Calls on Atlanta Journal-Constitution to Maintain Diversity
NABJ President Barbara Ciara commended the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in a letter for its strong record of diversity, but she implored the newspaper to consider the “integral” work of its black journalists and editors before expected lay offs.
NABJ is eager to help ensure that the Journal-Constitution does not lose ground in the progress it has made toward a diverse newsroom that reflects the make-up of the community,” Ciara wrote in the letter.
An advocacy group established in 1975 in Washington, D.C., NABJ is the largest organization of journalists of color in the nation, with more than 4,100 members, and provides educational, career development and support to black journalists worldwide.
