Professional Mentors

NABJ STUDENT MULTIMEDIA PROJECT

For one week, students will work in a multiplatform environment and have the opportunity to practice daily journalism in a convergence newsroom, as well as work with professionals from major news organizations and gain valuable career-building experience.

The professional staff is composed entirely of experienced working journalists who select the students through a competitive process.

NABJ will pay for a selected and limited number of participant's registration, meal stipend and/or lodging on a shared room basis. Participants will be notified prior to April 1.

The application deadline is Monday, March 9, 2009.

Qualifications:

  • Full-time mentors must have at least 5 years journalism experience
  • Possess familiarity with online journalism and multimedia news creation and delivery
  • Forward-thinking about journalism in the 21st century and expected to assist the NABJ Student Multimedia Projects shape its evolving multimedia curriculum as it prepares students for professional journalism careers
  • Journalism teaching or training experience extremely helpful, plus willingness to work with and mentor student journalists
  • Must be willing to commit to week-long Student Projects   
  • Must be a current member of NABJ
